Help
for the hearing impaired
Ahavas
Israel has installed an induction loop system, to aid worshippers
with hearing loss, in our Chapel and Sanctuary. The system broadcasts
an audio signal that can only be picked up by hearing aids with
a telecoil feature. The telecoil is that feature you would use in
order to hear more clearly on a telephone. If you're not sure that
your hearing aid has one, talk to your audiologist.
By
activating the t-coil, anything said at the microphone will broadcast
directly into your hearing aids. Additionally, there is one set
of headphones that will pick up the loop broadcast. See the usher
to use that headphone.
Have
Ask
the Rabbi
We
are currently expanding our Ask the Rabbi Page. When completed we
will have questions and answers on topics ranging from Basic Jewish
Belief, Jewish History to Weddings.

in 1892) and Congregation Ahavas Achim (founded in 1911) merged
in 1937.
Today
our building features a large sanctuary, small chapel, religious
school classrooms, library, meeting room, two kosher kitchens and
a social hall.
Our professional staff consists of a full-time rabbi, office manager,
custodian, part-time cantor, and religious school principal.

S.O.S.
The Sisterhood is looking for volunteers to set up and clean up
for the weekly kiddushim that follow
Shabbat services. Karen Reifler will show you how to do it and help
you the first time or two…there is even a
“map” to follow. All items are purchased, so no shopping
is involved. With enough volunteers, we may need you only once every
six weeks or less. Please consider donating your time to support
this important
Sisterhood function. If you are interested, need further information
or have questions, please contact
Karen Reifler at 975-9577 or
kereifler@sbcglobal.net.
Kosher
Challahs Are Available!
Celebrate
a simcha or honor a loved one by underwriting a standard Shabbat
Kiddush
or Sanctuary Shabbat kiddush.
It’s
as easy as writing
your name. Simply send a check payable to Ahavas Israel Sisterhood,
and mail your check to the Synagogue Office. Please contact Deb
in the office to confirm that the date you are interested in is
available. Cost is $54 for a regular Shabbat Kiddush
or $72 for a Sanctuary Shabbat Kiddush (first Shabbat of the month.
Sanctuary Shabbat kiddushim include additional foods and are prepared
for a larger crowd.) Underwriting will be acknowledged in the weekly
Shabbat announcements. This program has become popular, so reserve
your date early!
Please remember that no special food requests are permitted, however,
you may provide a certified kosher cake to mark the occasion, if
desired. (On Sanctuary Shabbat, Sisterhood provides a yogurt cake
to honor the monthly birthdays & anniversaries)It is the underwriter’s
responsibility to purchase and deliver the cake to the synagogue
by Friday noon prior to the Shabbat in question AND that the Sisterhood
members preparing the kiddush are made aware that you are providing
a cake.
